The Story

About the Artist
Anne-Marie D’Arcy is a West Australian artist, painting how she lives: the beach in summer, the bush in winter.

Growing up in remote WA, Anne-Marie spent much of her youth peering out a light aircraft window during aerial mustering and travelling to and from boarding school. Today, she continues to explore landscapes from a ‘higher plane’, creating artworks that celebrate the colours, textures and stories of Western Australia.
Her aerial beach artworks reflect the unique West Aussie lifestyle, while her bush works invite viewers to connect with the awe and wonder she feels for the vast beauty of the outback.

Process & Inspiration
Working across canvas, paper and board in acrylics and mixed media, Anne-Marie incorporates materials including iron oxide, copper, metal leaf, earth and vintage music sheets to capture colour, memory and place.
Her work often references stories from childhood through recurring motifs including the Ibis and the Min Min (firefly), symbols woven into memories and stories shared with her growing up.
Splitting her time between her Perth studio and rural WA, Anne-Marie creates to share her passion for the landscape and encourage a deeper connection with the bush and all its guardians.
